Hello Female Filmmakers!

This is my first blog post ever. The beginning of an adventure together!

I decided to start a blog because as a female filmmaker developing my first feature I wanted to document the journey of what it is to go through this process. Especially as a Latina woman. And even more specially, as a woman in my situation. Here’s the thing, another big reason I’m deciding to make this blog is because I don’t just have one, but two first time projects in the oven: A film and a baby! It’s hard to be a working mamma in any industry, but it’s especially challenging in the film one. That won’t stop us! We are up for this challenge and I’m excited to tell you all about juggling the two biggest projects of my life at the same time.

Here we go!

This will be a place to tell all the ups and downs of this difficult, but fascinating journey. The idea is to share an honest view of the process as I live through it. We mostly hear the success stories and we wonder how to get there. In reality, there’s a lot of “NO”’ before you get a “YES” and that’s OK. It’s all part of the process. Resilience is key. But sometimes resilience is easier if you don’t feel like you are going through the rough patches alone.

The blog will also have a section where I will interview female directors from all over the world to share with you the experiences about their own journeys making their first features. You can only dream of being what you can see it’s out there: And there are a lot of us out here trying to make it happen!

I hope you will find this blog useful and I also hope it leads to building a community of strong female filmmakers. Please comment and share with me about your own experiences or any questions you might have, let’s make this a safe space to learn 🙂

Let’s get started!
